Homemade Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained

  • Juice of 1 large lemon

  • ¼ cup tahini

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzle

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water

  • Dash ground paprika

  • Optional suggested toppings- chopped parsley, tomatoes, chili oil, feta cheese, pine nuts

Directions:

  1. Blend lemon juice and tahini.

  2. Add the olive oil, cumin, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the tahini and lemon juice. Blend until evenly mixed.

  3. Slowly add drained chickpeas to the blender until smooth.

  4. Add water to “thin” the hummus to desired texture.

  5. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and desired toppings.

Tip *scrape sides of the blender between each ingredient addition to ensure everything is being mixed.
